1. What is the Petty Traders Grant Support Programme?

It is a financial assitance programme for Nigerian entrepreneurs, providing startup grants, business funding, and micro-business support for petty traders.

 

2. How much grant funding can I receive?

Successful applicants may get ₦10,000 – ₦100,000 in small business grants to start or expand petty businesses.

 

3. Who is eligible for small business grants in Nigeria?

Residents aged 18 -55 years with a business idea, startup, or existing petty business are eligible to apply.

 

4. What are the eligibility criteria for the Petty Traders Grant Support Programme?

To qualify for the Petty Traders Grant Support Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a Nigerian resident
Applicants must currently reside in Nigeria and must be a Nigerian.

Be between 18 and 55 years old
Applicants must fall within the approved age bracket at the time of application. Do not false your age.

Have a valid means of identification
A valid NIN Slip carrying your date of birth is required for verification.

Own or intend to start a petty trade or small-scale business
Both existing petty traders and individuals with a viable business idea can apply.

Provide accurate bank account details

13. Is the Petty Traders Grant repayable?

No. This is a non-repayable business grant, not a loan.

 

14. Is there an application fee?

No. Applications are FREE, and we would never request payment at any stage of this grant.

 

15. Can students access startup funding?

Yes. Students with a viable business idea or ongoing petty business are eligible.

 

16. Which types of businesses qualify for funding?

No. Applications cannot be edted once submitted. Kindly look over your application form once more before submitting.

 

23. How are grant funds disbursed?

Funds are transferred directly to the verified bank account submitted during application.

 

24. What if I face issues during the application process?

25. How to avoid scams related to this business grants?

26. I was shortlisted but haven’t received my money. Why?

Grant disbursement is processed in batches after the verification stage is completed. Not all shortlisted applicants receive payment at the same time due to the verification process. Some people verification completes fastest than some others.

 

27. Does being shortlisted guarantee immediate payment?

No. Shortlisting means you have passed the initial screening stage. Final payment depends on sucessful verification and confirmation of your details.

 

28. What could delay my grant payment?

Payment may be delayed if:

  • Your address verification is pending

  • NIN verification is pending

  • There are discrepancies in submitted verification document

  • Bank account details were incorrect

  • Required confirmation steps were not completed

 

29. How are grant payments processed?

Funds are disbursed in phases directly to the verified bank account submitted during registration.

 

30. What should I do if others have been paid and I haven’t?

If the official disbursement window is still ongoing, kindly remain patient as payments are processed in batches.
If disbursement has officially ended and you have not received funds despite full verification, contact the official support channel for clarification.

 

31. Do I need to pay any fee to receive my grant?

No. The programme does not require any payment to release funds. Do not respond to anyone requesting money to “speed up” your payment

 

32. How can I know if my registration has been successfully received?

After completing your application, you should see a  round green successful buton with a submission confirmation message on your screen. This confirms that your registration has been successfully received.

If you did not see a confirmation message after submitting the form, your application may not have been completed successfully. In that case, you may need to reapply (if the application window is still open).

⚠️ Please ensure you submit the form only once. Multiple submissions may lead to disqualification.

 

33. What is a Grant Circle?

A Grant Circle refers to the period during which the grant application is open and then closed, that is a circle.

Each Grant Circle includes the time when applications are accepted and ends when the application window closes and the selection process begins.

For this programme, Grant Circles are held once every quarter (four times a year). This gives applicants multiple opportunities within the year to apply for the grant.

So far, we have held three circles;

  • First Cycle (June – August 2025):
    Applications and shortlisting have closed. Verification and disbursement are currently ongoing.
  • Second Cycle (October – December 2025):
    Applications have closed. Batch A has been released, shortlisting is still on.
  • Third Cycle (January – March 2026):
    Application is opened and closes on the 31st of March,2026.

34. Is there a dashboard where I can log in later to check my application status?

No. The Petty Traders Grant Support Programme does not provide a user dashboard for applicants to log in later.

Once you have successfully submitted your application, it is recorded in the system for screening and verification. Applicants are advised to keep their application detials for reference..

Official Announcement: Temporary Pause of Petty Traders Grant Support Programme Applications - 11/3/2026

We wish to inform the public that applications for the Petty Traders Grant Support Programme will be temporarily paused after the conclusion of the third grant circle which is currently opened and would close on the 31st of March, 2026. We anticipate resuming the application process within the next one to two months.

This pause is necessary for the following reasons;

  1. To allow our team to properly attend to previously shortlisted applicants who are yet to be attended to.
  2. To complete the shortlisting process for both the second (Oct – Dec, 2025) and third (Jan – March,2026) circles, which application will close on 31st of March,2026
  3. To help speed up verification process for pending applicants. This particular process is taking longer than initially anticipated.
  4. To enable us ensure a thorough and accurate verification process and maintaining fairness of the programme.
  5. To follow up on progress report from all beneficiaries who has been disbursed to.
  6. To create proper awareness of the programmes eligibility and criteria.
  7. To evaluate the programme and restructure adequately.

Change of Information Now Open
